Berrien Basketball had tough week

By Gaile Bailey

Berrien’s Rebels and Lady Rebels lost three games each last week, with both entering the Thanksgiving break at 1-4.

On Tuesday, November 19, Berrien traveled to Brantley County, where the girls fell 21-54, and, the boys lost 35-41.

On Friday, November 21, Berrien made the short trip to Atkinson County. Berrien’s ladies played a good game, with the lead swapping throughout the matchup. The Lady Rebels fell short by one point, 43-44, when a winning layout failed to fall as the buzzer sounded. In the boys game, again, the score was close, with Berrien leading by two points at halftime, 32-30. Just prior to halftime, leading scorer, Kevo Clark, went down, but, returned after halftime, only to be hurt again on a hard fall, and, could not return.

On Saturday, November 23,  Lowndes 7A teams came to Nashville. Competing against the much larger classification did not bode well for either the Lady Rebels or Rebels with the girls losing to the Vikettes, 22-72, and, the boys losing 18-74 to the Vikings.

Berrien returns to action on Tuesday, December 3 (after press time), at home against Brantley County. They will travel to Lowndes Friday, December 6 at Lowndes, and return home Saturday, December 10 to play Irwin County. (One of more of these games may be postponed due to football playoffs).
